Pumpkin Kody

Monday, October 27th 10:13pm Matt

Today Kody did the cutest thing. But first I have to tell you that yesterday Daniel and I went to a corn maze, and if you end up getting to all the check points you end up getting a free mini pumpkin. Or so we thought. It turns out you get a free mini gourd that just looks like a pumpkin, but with the color washed out and the potential for warts. But we were going to get whatever was free, and we were going to get it totally above board.

Where was I? Oh yeah, so I have this gourd (that looks basically like a pumpkin, that part’s important) sitting on my glass table and Kody is just obsessed with it. To the point that one time when I got down to play with him he just wandered over there, looked at it, and looked at me like, “Give that to me.” I can’t figure out why. Then I get it. In the spirit of Halloween I got him a stuffed pumpkin. He must have remembered that and assumed this thing that looked like it was also his. Kody has a very keen sense on what things are his. He uses sight, as in this case. And he can also smell toys of any sort sitting in a plastic bag out of his sight, or in a closet, whatever, he’ll find it. In this case he figured the gourd was his.

Luckily I had actually purchased two stuffed pumpkins for him and had the second one on layaway. I put the gourd out of his sight and went out to layaway (my car) to get the other pumpkin. He was happy.
