Liberals and Unions

Tuesday, March 10th 9:13pm Matt

I love how liberals who don’t belong to unions are always so pro-union. Rachel Maddow is complaining right now that the republicans are lying about what the EFCA (Employee Free Choice Act) bill does. She’s right, they are. But she’s suggesting this bill will somehow put an end to union busting. It won’t. She’s being just as ignorant as the republicans. She’s actually trying to prove her point by showing a clip from The Office. She’s trying to convince us union busting exists and it’s bad. Um yeah, we know. That’s not at issue here.

What’s going on here is whenever anybody mentions the words “union” and “change” in the same sentence people start running around like chickens with their heads cut off. That’s what’s happening right now. Hopefully Rachel will find her head soon.

And by the way Rachel, why don’t you tell us all how exactly this bill will put and end to union busting? I just don’t see it.

Actually Rachel Maddow is not telling the truth. The latest union/leftist spin is that the “workers” decide whether a union comes to a worksite through the secret ballot process or the signing card process. This decision is made by the union organizers. The choice is: 1. Get 50% plus one to sign cards and then give them to the labor board to get recognition instantly, or 2. Get 50% plus one to sign the cards and then ask the labor board to hold a secret ballot election (I guess in case the paid union organizer wants to make sure that the employees knew what they were signing, ha ha). Choice 2 will never happen. Unions know it. EFCA takes away the secret ballot, and mandates arbitration in bargaining. That is why employers and those who believe in democracy oppose this joke of a bill.
