Now that we’re all poor and jobless (some of us just went more out of our way to get there) we all have one thing in common. We all love blogs. And what do we love the most? When our friends have lots of them!

Why do I have so many blogs? Well, I realized I had a lot of opinions, well more like extremely accurate knowledge, on many topics. So the things I had enough opinions about to support a blog, I moved over to a new blog. This allows people who don’t care about dachshunds to read about design. And people who don’t care about design can read about technology. And people who only care about me can choose between all of them, or just this blog. NatalieTootie will become a more personal blog.

Both of these blogs are just babies, and one doesn’t even have any clothes on at the time of this writing.

So first off, we have sd sync. This is the blog all about technology. I love it. I love to talk about it. I love to watch it. That’s right, I like to watch.

sd sync

Next, we have Designoplasty. This is a blog about design, the business of web design, and the more technical side of design such as programming. I just wrote a post about version control software.

Designoplasty

Where sd sync is macro, Designoplasty is micro. Where sd sync is about other people’s business, Designoplasty is about my business. If sd sync is Donald Trump, Designoplasty is Martha Stewart.

I’ve been working so hard and so much. I really have to take time out for Kody. We go on long walks and spend time on the couch together and playing. But the rest of the time, I’m staring at the computer and working.

The walks help him to be OK with this, and he’ll sleep most of the time I’m working. But sometimes I’m just amazed at what a good sport he is. He pulls his blanket off the couch, so it’s in a bunch, and the lays in it like a nest. He’s so cute.

So I’ve seen a few posts lately, even from pro-Dachshund sources, grouping Dachshunds with other small dogs and then labeling them as girly dogs or dogs men would generally not own. But I really don’t think this is correct, not just in my opinion, but factually. Here’s why:

So I’ve seen a few posts lately, even from pro-Dachshund sources, grouping Dachshunds with other small dogs and then labeling them as girly dogs or dogs men would generally not own. But I really don’t think this is correct, not just in my opinion, but factually. Here’s why:

Point 1: Hound Group

Dachshunds are part of the hound group, which is a group of hunting dogs. Dachshunds are very similar to their close relatives, Bloodhounds, Basset Hounds, and Beagles, and basically look and act like them except in a more compact package. In fact these three breeds and the Dachshund are the four breeds most people would think of when they think of hounds.

Point 2: European Hunting

Dachshunds are used for hunting all over Europe. My dog came from Michal’s brother Vladimir who is, of course, from the Czech Republic. In the Czech republic Michal told me they have big hunting competions and every hunter will have one or more Dachshunds with him. They don’t bring retrievers, or pointers, they have Dachshunds. Michal described it like a Dachshund reunion and as you might have guessed it’s very noisy.

Point 3: American Blood Tracking

In the United States, Dachshunds are used for blood tracking. I don’t know much about it, but I think it’s basically when they shoot something and it keeps moving, they use Dachshunds to find where it finally died.

Point 4: Personality

Dachshunds don’t have the cute cuddly personality of other small dogs. I mean, they do once they know you, but it takes them a while. The first thing my Dachshund Kody does when he meets a new person is bark. He lets them know in no uncertain terms that they’re an outsider and it would probably be best if they just left. Then he mulls approval, which involves lots of sniffing. Then he gives tentative approval which involves lots of ignoring. Then he gives kisses which for a new friend means sneaking his tongue up one of their nostrils!
