Tonight Kody and I were heading outside and about 20 feet from the bottom of the stairs he just stopped moving. He was quiet, but kind of acting like when he has a prickly stuck to him. I looked on his feet and felt around but there wasn’t anything. Then I noticed he was shaking, and thought he was probably stung by a bee.

I carried him away from the area to some grass and googled dog bee stings on my iphone. Kody was just quiet and shaking but not too bad, and seemed to be breathing OK. The biggest concern I found was of course if the dog is allergic, but aside from the shaking he wasn’t exhibiting any of the signs of that. About five minutes later a cat showed up and he jumped up and barked and growled and snarled. I’d never been so happy to see him behaving badly.

So I called the manager and they’re going to get an exterminator over here tomorrow morning. I hope early. In the meantime I’m wearing long pants and a jacket zipped up and carrying Kody up and down the stairs.

Do you know what this means? It means no more texting fees for iPhone users… because you don’t have to text.

When Apple started selling the iPhone some people complained that it didn’t support SMS picture messaging. My response was, why would you use that when you can just email it and then get better quality pictures and have them on your computer or any other device as well?

The iPhone means no more lame “phone” technologies that pale in comparison to computer technologies. And the iPhone SDK is the final nail in that coffin. Oh, and the iPhone games look awesome!!! Spore and Super Monkey Ball look like so much fun, and just tilt the phone to play!

Flex is going to be spending four days with Kody and me. I’m looking forward to it, but my biggest concern is giving both of them enough love. (Awww!) I bought Flex a dog tag with my cell phone number on it for the visit. Should be fun!

It’s the latest in doggy potty training. He rings the bell when he wants to go out. Since he’s had more access to the house, there have been a couple of mistakes although he’s not bad. I can read his body language pretty well, but now the problem is I just can’t see him all the time. So we’ll try this bell thing and I hear it works pretty well, and it’s better and more distinctive sounding than him scratching on the door.

Kody had his third set of shots today. It was kind of rough for him. There were three total which is more than usual and they were all in different places on his body. One was his rabies shot. He’s moving pretty slow and squealed a couple of times for no apparent reason, so I assume there’s some pain involved for him. Hopefully he’ll feel better tomorrow.

And after all my ranting about how pro bodybuilders don’t hang out, I didn’t mention that Michal does have one pro bodybuilder friend, although that’s pretty recent. Anyway, he was looking for a new phone and Michal told him to get an iPhone and apparently he loves it and said it’s amazing. I, of course, take credit as he’s in my iPhone Family Tree™.

My right front tire has a slow leak that has been getting faster. It needs to be fixed, but I’m so horrible at making appointments. I just tend to put them off. But today after I filled it for the 3rd time in 2 weeks and was most motivated, I made the appointment. Sitting in my car at the Safeway gas pumps, I used my iPhone to find Bellevue, Washington. I got a map and then made a bookmark of that location for future use. Then I did a second search for Nissan. Just like in the commercial, the little pins went flying onto the map of Bellevue. One right near the middle was for Nissan of the Eastside. I clicked on the name to get all the contact information. Not just phone number, but address and website too. I made a bookmark of that location and just clicked on the phone number to make the call.

Then I entered the appointment into the calendar and set a reminder for 1 day ahead. Now that appointment has been synced back onto my home computer.

During this entire process I was not once annoyed with slow wait times or the screen being too small. In fact the process was filled with pleasant surprises. The iPhone will truly change history. I’m not saying that as an Apple fan, I’m saying it because it just will. Wait and see.

I love the ring tones on the iPhone. They’re all very emotive and original. Like Alarm, Bell Tower, Crickets, Doorbell, Motorcycle, Old Car Horn, Old Phone, Pinball (this is my current ring tone), and Sci-Fi (featuring theremin). They can also be used as the timer sound. I love that this device has obvious feature people need like timer, stopwatch, and multiple alarms.

Also, the YouTube interface on the iPhone is better than the actual YouTube interface. The high dpi of the display makes the fonts look so clear. I can’t wait until we finally have really high dpi computer monitors.

Using this device feels so natural. You can flick to get a list spinning up and then tap to stop it. Just like you would in the real world. It’s really fun to use. I haven’t even taken a shower yet. I don’t want to leave it!

My prediction before the phone was even released was that it would cause anti-trust trouble with the 5 year contract between Apple and AT&T. This phone is so amazing that nobody will want any other phone. AT&T has the one thing it needs to put all other carriers out of business. And now that the activation issues seem to be going away, that won’t be a problem. I think the feds will step in a force them to break their contract so that other wireless carriers don’t go out of business. I think it will happen within one year.

I love the conversation view for SMS messages. I got a long three part message and those are so easy to ready because they’re all shown next to each other. The Apple design is so amazing. The fonts are so clear and easy to read. There’s all the extra info around that you always wanted on a cell phone but never got because they only had limited space.

Typing on the keyboard is easy if you take your time at first and get used to it. You need to try to do it perfect at first and then you get a feel for when it’s going to be able to guess and you can just hit near the key you want.

The syncing process was amazing. Once I was back in Apple land, everything as good again.
